If you’re a musician of any kind, you will, at some point, have considered recording one or more of your tracks. Well, now is by far the best time there’s ever been to hit the studio!
In my experience, there are 3 main options most artists consider when preparing to record their material:
Many artists try to record and mix themselves to save on costs, but they soon realise how difficult it is to achieve a high enough standard to compete with the music of their favourite artists. So, they either give up or spend the next decade or so learning how to do it right!
A few artists choose to spend all their savings at a high-end studio, but they usually discover part-way through that the costs are so high they can rarely afford to complete their projects in the way they had originally hoped. This often leaves artists holding a bunch of unfinished tracks and a feeling that their music will never be completed.
Most bands and artists, however, choose the easier (and cheaper) option, going to a local studio that charges an affordable day rate, recording 3 to 5 tracks in a few days, then mixing and mastering them all for a set fee.
This is fine, if all you want is a quick, cheap demo and you don’t have any aspirations for greater things… …but if you want something more than that – something that sounds awesome! – then all you’re doing is throwing your money away for a mediocre end product that simply won’t stand up to the high quality tracks you hear from your favourite artists – artists who are releasing amazing-sounding music and getting millions of streams every day on Spotify.
If you want to take your music to the next level, giving it the chance to compete with the artists you admire – and save a lot of money in the process – then this is the option for you!
Book a studio session at Sidrat Audio. I’ll track all your vocals and live instruments, edit multiple takes seamlessly into one, add accompaniments or compose original backing tracks from scratch, mix your music with creative flair and master it, ready for Streaming and burning to CD.
And I’ll do it all for a more-than-reasonable price!
I can afford to set my prices lower than the competition, because I don’t have the same overheads as larger studios, who need to pay a lot of rent and extra bills, as well as staff and many unseen costs…
I work out of my home studio, in a purpose-built structure, with effective sound isolation from the outside world. The acoustics are tuned for an excellent recording and mixing environment, perfectly suited to tracking all types of vocals, as well as the most common acoustic and electric instruments.
I own a wide range of microphones for capturing a variety of vocal and live instrument performances, in conjunction with several different respected brands of pre-amps and signal processors, resulting in a high-quality recording every time.
I have an eclectic collection of analogue and digital hardware instruments and a wealth of high-end virtual instruments, from beautifully modelled vintage to cutting-edge modern synthesizers and drum machines, as well as painstakingly multi-sampled reproductions of real-world instruments.
My wide assortment of effects plugins includes exacting emulations of classic hardware processors, from compressors and EQs to delays and reverb, plus everything in-between. Then there are the plugins that can do tricks that no piece of hardware could ever achieve – I’ve got those, too.
I use several different DAWs, depending on the project, including Steinberg Cubase, Ableton Live and Reason. They’re more or less equal in their capabilities, but there’s always something one can do better than the others, so they all have a part in my workflow.
At the end of the day, however, it’s not about what gear you have, it’s what you do with it that counts! The main difference between what I provide and what you’ll receive at a low-end or mid-range studio – or even a high-end studio, for that matter – is that I actually care about your music!
Most of the local studios you’ll find that offer a standard deal for 3 to 5 tracks, rely on volume, meaning that they have to work with a lot of artists and bands in order to pay the rent. Unfortunately, this tends to result in a lax attitude towards the quality of their mixes. They churn out mediocre tracks as quickly as possible, which leaves their customers with just about acceptable demos.
But I don’t work that way – to me, ‘just about acceptable’ is simply unacceptable! When I work on a project, it becomes a part of me – I commit to it and I won’t settle for anything less than awesome!
I’m passionate about producing great-sounding music – I love the process of making music and when I see the smiles on my clients’ faces after they’ve heard the final mix, that’s what makes it all worthwhile!
I strongly believe in providing outstanding quality at a reasonable rate – for all my clients! Everyone should be able to afford to record their music and be proud of the result! I can’t guarantee that you’ll become a successful artist, but I can give you the best possible chance of achieving success with your music at a price point well below that of high-end studios.
In short, if you want your music to sound highly professional, so that your audience will be captivated when they hear it, Sidrat Audio can deliver – and at a price-point much lower than most other local studios!
It’s time to invest in yourself – you won’t regret it!
Whether you’re a vocalist or play an instrument, I’ll get you mic’d up and sound-checked, before capturing your best performance in my cosy and acoustically treated recording studio.
Editing your audio is essential, comping together all your best takes, line by line, into a single seamless piece, then trimming each clip, ensuring there’s no unwanted noise.
Need an original backing track? Or a minimal accompaniment? I offer MIDI sequencing, sampling, synthesis and drum programming, as well as advice on structure and arrangement.
Bringing all your instrumental and vocal layers together into a single cohesive mix can be just as creative as writing the song itself, making sure each element complements the rest.
It’s incredibly frustrating to have put so much time, money and effort into recording your music, only to be totally disappointed with the result. I should know – I’ve been there myself! …which is why I became interested in music production in the first place.
I’ve been a singer with a bunch of different bands since I was 15, from grunge to funk-rock, new-age to trip-hop, hip-hop to electronica and I was never satisfied with the quality of any of our recordings!
I’ve heard the same story time and again, from so many people over the years. Luckily, since I started recording and mixing my own material, I found a passion for producing music, as well as performing it, leading me to gain as much knowledge and experience in music technology as I could.
I’ve been fortunate enough to work with some very talented artists in order to help them achieve their musical aspirations, who could otherwise have exhausted their funds with other studios that might not have been quite so passionate about their projects.
I’ve been helping artists realise their potential for over 12 years, now, during which time I have worked with literally hundreds of musicians, occupying dozens of different genres, producing a myriad of singles, albums and compilations.
My clients have saved hundreds – if not thousands! – of pounds in studio costs and they’ve always been impressed with the results.
At the end of the day, the proof is in the pudding, so I encourage you to visit my Portfolio page and listen to some of the tracks I’ve recorded and mixed, and compare them to those of other small and mid-range studios in the area.
I’m confident you’ll be able to hear the difference in quality… In fact, I’m already looking forward to working with you! Together, I hope we’ll produce your best-sounding music to date – I can’t wait to get started!
I offer my clients a full consultation in advance of any work being carried out, discussing your project in detail, so that I can provide you with a quote you can be confident is completely accurate.
This is a step-by-step itinerary of your project, detailing each and every stage in the production process, so that you’ll know exactly what to expect – every step along the way.
I’m pleased to provide all my clients with the DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) session files upon completion of their project and receipt of final payment, as I recommend they retain a copy for safe-keeping.
This is where the magic happens! Record your performance, edit the best takes to perfection and produce your sequenced accompaniment or backing track.
After we’ve completed all your recording, I’ll send you a Rough Mix, without any processing, but with each element balanced in volume, so that you can hear everything clearly to check your performance.
If you notice anything in the Initial Rough Mix that you didn’t quite nail in the recording process, I provide the opportunity to re-record and fix any parts that aren’t quite up to scratch.
With every project, I provide a series of 3 full Mix Proofs and 3 sets of changes, as well as a final Listening/Mixing Session, in order to ensure that you’re 100% satisfied with the end result.
The Sidrat studio is acoustically treated for a great mixing environment, as well as recording vocals and a wide range of acoustic and electric instruments. I also have an eclectic selection of music hardware and an extensive range of top-end software and plugins.
When you book yourself in for a session at Sidrat Audio, you’re not just hiring a room and a bunch of equipment, you’re also hiring me, with my knowledge, experience, skills – and, most importantly, my ears! 😉
I’m very easy to get along with and I want to make your time in the studio as fun and enjoyable as possible. In this way, you’ll be relaxed and in the best possible frame of mind to nail your performance every time!
One of the key elements most studios – and artists – overlook is the contribution an experienced producer can make to your music. With the right advice at the right time, your music can achieve that special something it might otherwise lack.
On completion of your project, you’ll be provided with a number of audio files to take away with you, including the final mix in hi-res and medium-res WAV format, as well as mastered versions for both Streaming (in WAV and MP3 formats) and a WAV for burning to CD.
